Pot of Gold: Previous Projects
Carol Day – Little Saints Playgroup
Carol, Resident of the HTC area and Partnership Member, has been running Little Saints Playgroup at All Saints Parish Hall for many years. She has applied for several Pot of Gold grants to help this non-profit Playgroup scheme.
Carol had just retired, but she wanted to keep doing something to keep busy and to give something back to the community. It was at this point that she began to volunteer and run a playgroup at All Saints Parish Hall. Seven years later, Carol is still running the group, alongside volunteer Jennie.
To help get equipment and other essentials for the group, Carol has applied for several Pot of Gold grants over the years. With these grants, Carol has been able to provide new soft play equipment, alongside tables and chairs, for the children to create arts and crafts, and participate in educational play.
Carol also applied for a grant to buy a set of safety gates. The addition and inclusion of these gates mean that the children are now able to play freely and safely outside, in the warmer weather.
Although the group has changed over the years, Carol and Jennie maintain a friendly and helpful group where all are welcome. The group has helped people feel a part of the community, and is open to everyone – Mums, Carers, Grandparents, and of course, Dads!
You can find the group at All Saints Parish Hall on Mondays, at 9am-11am, during term time only.
The HTC Pot of Gold (POG) scheme has been running for 6 years and has granted £50,000 to around 30 projects. We offer the opportunity for people and groups to apply for small-sized grants, to help improve and give back to the community. Applications open annually and successful applicants will be notified as soon as possible.
